First thing
- ☐ Strip the beds and pack the bedding you'll need tonight in the open-first box
- ☐ Pack the last of the kitchen
- ☐ Keep keys, documents, valuables, chargers and medication with you
- ☐ Make sure the parking space for the van is clear
When the crew arrives
- ☐ Walk the crew round: point out fragile items and anything that isn't going
- ☐ Agree what goes on the van last so it comes off first
- ☐ Keep children and pets away from the carrying
- ☐ Keep your inventory to hand so nothing is missed
Before you leave
- ☐ Take gas, electricity and water meter readings and photograph them
- ☐ Check every room, cupboard, the loft, the shed and the garden
- ☐ Turn off lights, close the windows and lock up
- ☐ Leave or hand over the keys as agreed
At your new home
- ☐ Take meter readings and photograph them
- ☐ Check the heating and hot water work
- ☐ Tell the crew which room each box goes in - your labels help
- ☐ Check furniture and boxes for damage before the crew leaves, and note any problems
- ☐ Tell the removal company about any damage as soon as you can
- ☐ Make the beds early and find the stopcock and fuse box
