Clean Air Zone
Bristol started charging in its central Clean Air Zone in November 2022. Vehicles that don't meet its emission standards - including cars and vans - pay a daily charge, so check your route on the council's website, especially if you're hiring a van.
Steep streets and steps
Neighbourhoods such as Totterdown, Kingsdown and Clifton have very steep streets, and many homes have steps up to the door. Describe them in your inventory so the crew comes prepared.
Flats in older houses
Many Georgian and Victorian houses, in Clifton and Redland for example, have been split into flats over several floors, usually without a lift.
Moving to or from South Wales
The Severn bridge tolls were scrapped in December 2018, so a Bristol-Cardiff move no longer has a bridge toll.
